PrymaCare provides workplace respiratory health surveillance for employees exposed to substances that may affect their breathing or lung health.

This may include employees working with or around:

✔ Respirable crystalline silica
✔ Wood dust
✔ Welding fumes
✔ Flour or other organic dusts
✔ Paints, sprays, resins or chemicals
✔ Other respiratory sensitisers or hazardous substances

Appointments can include:

✔ Occupational respiratory health questionnaire
✔ Relevant symptom assessment
✔ Baseline or periodic spirometry
✔ Comparison with previous results where available
✔ Identification of results requiring further assessment
✔ Clear onward referral recommendations
✔ Appropriate employee and employer documentation

Screening can be delivered at your workplace, reducing disruption and time away from site.

PrymaCare provides respiratory screening and health surveillance within an agreed programme. We do not provide occupational hygiene testing or workplace exposure monitoring. The employer remains responsible for its risk assessments, exposure controls and overall health surveillance arrangements.

PrymaCare provides qualitative face fit testing for compatible tight-fitting respiratory protective equipment, including commonly used disposable and reusable half-mask respirators.

Testing uses a recognised qualitative taste-based method and includes:

✔ Pre-test suitability checks
✔ Explanation of the testing process
✔ Correct mask fitting and positioning
✔ User seal-check guidance
✔ Completion of the required test exercises
✔ Individual test results and certification
✔ Practical advice where a mask does not achieve an adequate fit

Testing is specific to the exact make, model, type and size of mask worn during the assessment. Employees should be clean-shaven in the area where the mask seals against the face on the day of testing.

Qualitative testing is generally suitable for disposable and reusable half masks. Some higher-protection or full-face respiratory equipment requires quantitative testing and may need referral to an alternative provider.

Employers should supply the masks normally used 

by their workforce. Where required, PrymaCare can discuss arrangements for testing employees against more than one model.
